About me
Hi! I’m Lynn. I’ve been teaching Pilates for over a decade. I am a comprehensively certified Level 2 STOTT Pilates® Instructor since 2014. I also have a Bachelors of Science in Dance from Wayne State University, received that same year.
For the past ten years following my initial certification and degree, I have dedicated my life and work to learning about how the body moves through workshops, reading, conversations with colleagues, and my own physical exploration. I have taught countless private clients and group classes. I have taught in gyms, boutique studios, dance studios, corporate workplaces, and martial arts studios.
My years of dance training and professional work as a contemporary dancer give me an inherent passion and curiosity for movement. My knowledge of anatomy and the Pilates method provides a solid foundation for me to then learn about YOUR body, which no book can educate me on.
I have extensive experience with many demographics, including those with multiple sclerosis, scoliosis, osteopenia, arthritis, athletes, pre and postpartum, Parkinson’s, and those rehabbing injuries post surgery (and post physical therapy!) I also have experience teaching good ol’ fashioned fitness classes - I used to teach an upbeat, challenging barre class every week that was waitlisted. Whatever your goals, I have the experience to help you get there.
Outside of teaching, I love reading, traveling, dancing, playing with my niece and nephew, and spending time with my fiancé, Lukas.
It’s nice to meet you!
My teaching philosophy
You are the expert of your own body, and I am merely a guide. My favorite part of teaching is watching my clients find their own relationship with movement. While I am capable of giving detailed instruction and I often do, I love to teach and then sit back and let you experience it. You don’t need me spoon feeding you every movement.
I long to create a space that is welcoming, judgement free, and with flexible expectations. The truth is we all need more movement in our lives, yet so many of us feel like that isn’t accessible. That we aren’t graceful enough, or coordinated enough, or strong enough. Movement isn’t about being perfect. I want to help you meet your body where it is at TODAY, in THIS moment. You don’t need to be anything but yourself.
